Want to be happy? Pick up a Bob Ross painting class

Want to paint some happy trees like Bob Ross? Julie Fjetland can show you how.

A Lake City native, Fjetland had attended a Bob Ross Landscape Certification Training in New Smyrna, Florida, and became a Certified Ross Instructor (CRI) back in December 2014.

“As an artist at heart, I have always loved to paint but never really pursued my dream until the past few years,” she said. “I immediately started teaching classes and that started what has been an amazing journey.”

Since that time Fjetland continued her training and is certified to teach the Bob Ross “Wet-on-Wet” landscape (CRI), floral (CRFI) and wildlife (CRWI) painting techniques. Although Fjetland resides in Florida now, she’s been traveling back to Minnesota during June and July to visit family, and has been requested to offer her art classes.

For those who have been amazed by the late artist’s seemingly effortless brush techniques that paints a majestic landscape in mere minutes, Fjetland plans to expand her art classes into Austin at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 12 and at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 13.

The cost for the classes are $50 and are around 30 minutes. No supplies are needed and participants must contact Fjetland to register because of limited class sizes.

During these classes Fjetland will teach students how to prep canvases, and demonstrate step-by-step painting techniques while receiving instruction by Fjetland. By the end of the class, each person will have a completed painting and can take it home to enjoy and hang.
