This is the Life: Images from a lake vacation in northern Minnesota

Vacation is generally a time to get away from the rigors of everyday life and a 9 to 5 work day.

The first week in July I took my annual vacation with family on Bad Axe Lake in northern Minnesota. The lake, and its resort, Isle O’Dreams Lodge, is fairly secluded north of Park Rapids, Minnesota.

My cousin Cameron casts a line at sunset from the dock of her family’s cabin.

It’s a tradition that goes back many, many years and despite many of the sites being familiar, is still a much anticipated summer stop. A chance to see old friends and put my feet up.

It also allows me to take time and be a photographer, without deadlines or time crunches. And let me tell you there is plenty to take in. These are just some of my favorite shots from the week.
