Gabriela Deusangeli, right, and Brian Leuning witnessed this tree falling during the storm Saturday, its roots elevating the cement sidewalk. Mr. Leuning said, “It made a big boom.” Ms. Deusangeli commented, “When I saw it, I screamed!” The tree blocked Eighth St. NW in the 500th block.
