Robert F. “Big Bob” Reimers, 83

Robert F. “Big Bob” Reimers, 83, of Granby, Missouri, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2019, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.

Robert Frederick was born April 12, 1936, in Austin to Fred and Edith (Wolter) Reimers and attended Austin schools. In 1954, Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Saack in Austin. Together they had six children: Debbie, Dian, Donna, Douglas, Dennis and Dale. They later divorced. Bob met Leslie Pratt and together they had two children, Lindsey and Robert II. Early on, Bob worked for Harrington Sanitation and later Bustad Crane Service. He owned and operated Northstar Truck Stop in Austin for many years.

Bob loved attending farm auctions, going to tractor pulls, collecting John Deere tractors, and taking his daughter and granddaughters to compete in horse shows. He was a member of the Root River Antique Historical Association and enjoyed attending the Antique Power shows in Racine, Minnesota. He helped start the farm exhibit at the Mower County Fairgrounds and was active in the Mower County Historical Society. He was a Christian man of Lutheran denomination, but enjoyed attending a number of different churches.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Reimers; and siblings, Naomi, Basil, Cecil, Ioane and Charles.

Bob is survived by his children, Debbie Boysen, Carthage, Missouri, Dian (Mark) LeBlanc, Athol, Massachusetts, Douglas (LuAnn) Reimers, Austin, Dennis (Karie) Reimers, Austin, Dale Reimers, Austin, Lindsey (Hector) Preciado, Stotts City, Missouri, and Robert Reimers II, Lansing, Minnesota; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Phyllis Jensen, California, Ardith (Edward) Erickson, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Teri Johnston, Maple Island, Minnesota, and Lloyd (Rose) Reimers, Walnut, California; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Richard Hegal officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
