The Hayfield baseball team showed off its pitching depth as it snuck past South Ridge 6-5 and beat Randolph 16-5 to take fifth place at the Minnesota Class A Consolation Round in Chaska Friday.

Mason Tapp allowed just one run in four innings to beat Randolph (22-4 overall) and Luke Dudycha pitched the win over South Ridge for Hayfield (24-3 overall).

Hayfield led South Ridge (20-8 overall) 4-0 after four innings, but SR battled back to score four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to get within 6-5. Jake Risius, who scored the save in relief, picked up a big strikeout when SR had the tying run on second with two outs in the sixth.
