William “Bill” Regner, 89, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2019, in Austin, Minnesota.

Bill was born on July 6, 1929, in Austin to Harold and Ruby Regner (Smith).

On Dec. 30, 1948, Bill married Betty Callahan and they had five children. Bill was a lifelong resident of Austin and prominent business owner. Bill was employed by Hormel Foods. He retired from Hormel in 1980 and continued working with Hormel as an independent contractor.

Bill was a lifelong member of St. Augustine’s Church, the Moose Club, NRA, Knights of Columbus and numerous other organizations. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, storytelling and spending time with his family at Crane Lake.

Survivors include his sister, Mary Lou Wallaker (Duane); his children, Mary Kay Jones (Ed) of Jupiter Florida, Sherrie Ellis (Maurice) of New Gloucester, Maine, Terrie Regner-Judd of Stewartville, Minnesota, Dan Regner (Lynn) of Rochester, Minnesota, and David Regner (Margie) of Superior, Wisconsin. He was grandfather to 17 grandchildren, Aaron (Alicia) and Noah (Loren) Jones, Patti Regner, Bill (Heather), Katie and Justin Ellis, Nicole (Ziad) Haddad, Ashley (Ben) Kinne and Dan (Sarah) Judd,  Angie, Brandon and Logan Regner, Carmen Regner (Randy Bales), Jacob (Tracy) Regner, Jenna (Kaleb) Farmer, Ben and William Regner; and is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, Ella, Isaac, Maddie, Cassie, Will, Tory, Grace, Jack, Lilly, Leo, Alex, Maggie, Sarah, Dashon, Kamari, Lando, Karson, Scarlett and Stella.

The family also wishes to offer a special acknowledgement to his loyal friend, Jim Retterath.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruby Regner; brother, Harold Regner; and his wife of 56 years, Betty Regner.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father James Steffes officiating. There will be a 6:45 p.m. wake service on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Mayer Funeral Home. where friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the service on Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations are welcomed in Bill Regner’s honor to St. Augustine Catholic Church.
