Two individuals who were arrested after police raided their residence appeared on Friday in Mower County District Court.

Manamany Omot Abella, 19, of Austin was charged with two counts each of felony fifth-degree drug possession and felony violent felon in possession of firearm and one count of felony violent felon in possession of firearm ammunition.

Akalo Omot Abella, 22, of Austin was charged with felony fifth-degree drug possession and felony violent felon in possession of firearm ammunition.

According to the court complaints, police executed a search warrant at approximately 11:14 a.m. on Thursday on a residence in the 1800 block of Third Avenue Southwest. Manamany answered the door and a detective explained the search warrant. The detective read a Miranda warning and placed him in handcuffs. Manamany told the detective he had marijuana in his bedroom, but said he did not think there were any weapons in the residence.

Akalo was located in the basement and placed in handcuffs.

The detective located marijuana, cartridges of THC wax, and one round of .380 caliber ammunition in Akalo’s bedroom. He was advised that Akalo could not be in possession of firearms or ammunition due to a prior felony drug conviction.

Officers located two pistols, .22 caliber and .380 caliber, in Manamany’s bedroom, along with hallucinogenic mushrooms, a box of nine-millimeter ammunition, a small amount of cocaine, several THC cartridges and a large amount of cash.

Both were transported to the Mower County Jail, where the detective learned that Manamany was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition due to previous juvenile adjudications for assault and burglary.

Both will appear in court again on May 16.
