Local Austin liquor establishment servers and bartenders attended the Responsible Beverage Server Training given by Lt. John Mueller of the Austin Police Department on Monday evening.
The topics covered were: alcohol policies, consequences and liabilities for failing to comply with local policies, helpful information that helps servers read various forms of identification cards, and empowering servers to handle situations when individuals are over-consuming.
Along with those topics, Austin Positive Action Coalition (APAC) partners with the Austin Police Department to promote the positive message that teens are more likely to not drink. The efforts are to also support businesses in recognizing the impact they have on deterring underage drinking.
The goals of APAC is to prevent youth access to alcohol and to increase public safety through responsible serving.
The 21 in attendance took a survey at the end of the training.
