LeVerne “Mike” Altenburg Jr., 29, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus, Rochester.

Mike was born on March 30, 1990, in Austin to LeVerne M. Altenburg Sr. and Tammy Drees. He was baptized at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Mike was a lifelong Austin resident and attended Austin High School. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Austin. Mike loved to work on motors and was always full of energy. He also loved the outdoors, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, loved to go fast, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a large halo with small horns. Mike will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his parents, LeVerne M. Altenburg Sr. of Austin and Tammy Drees of Austin; three sisters, Tahja Altenburg of Austin, Melanie Worth of Iowa and Melissa Kasten of South Dakota; brother, Andrew Hanson of Minnesota; maternal grandparents, Stephen (Nancy) Drees of Austin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ione Hedrick and Vernon Altenburg.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
