DeWayne J. Haberman, 81, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at his residence.

DeWayne John was born Jan. 14, 1938, in Owatonna, Minnesota, to Richard and Loretta (Hondl) Haberman. He was a graduate of the Owatonna High School. DeWayne served in the U.S. Army from June 10, 1955, until his honorable discharge on June 15, 1958. DeWayne was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Schweisthal on Sept. 18, 1965, in Faribault, Minnesota. They raised their two children and have resided in Austin their entire married life. DeWayne had a long career as an engineer with KAAL TV in Austin. In his early years, he enjoyed pro stock drag racing and restoring collector cars and tractors. Over the years, he enjoyed his involvement with the Mower County Fair.

He is survived by his children, John Haberman and Jaylene Haberman, both of Owatonna; grandchildren, Lukas and Holdyn; and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Beverly (Schweisthal) Haberman, in 1994.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
