Harold K. Denisen, 87, of Austin, Minnesota, died Thursday, April 4, 2019, at his home.

Harold was born on Feb. 28, 1932, in Lyle, Minnesota, to Walter and Guida (Peterson) Denisen. He graduated from Lyle High School and married Doris Smith on Aug.17, 1952, in Austin. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958.

He worked at Weyerhaeuser for 13 years and Hormel for 26 years until his retirement in 1992. Harold loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and especially enjoyed taking them fishing and golfing.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his friends. In his senior years, he shot his age twice, once at 73 and once at 76. In addition to golfing and fishing, he enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling and trap shooting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Guida; brother, Loren Denisen,; daughter-in-law, Amy Denisen; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Myrtle Smith.

Harold is survived by his wife, Doris Denisen, Austin; children, Jeff Denisen, Austin, Greg Denisen (Jennifer), Austin, and Jill and Mark Morrison, Austin; seven grandchildren, Janelle and Andrew Gieseke, Bloomington, Minnesota, Evan Morrison, Miramar, California, Cole Denisen (Erica), St. Peter, Minnesota, Jordyn Denisen, Austin, Devyn Denisen, Rochester, Minnesota, Shan and Brian Vike, St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and Derek Denisen, Mankato, Minnesota; and six great-grandchildren, Caius, Arius, Lenyn, Jayvis, Josephine and Nolan.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Mark Niethammer officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and will continue for one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 91. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Hormel Institute for cancer research.
