Q: How did you originally get into throwing discus and shot put?

A: One spring I had quit baseball so I was looking for something to do and my dad proposed the idea. It has stuck ever since.

Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?

A: I do not have one single memory but many from the friendships I have made and the events I have experienced such as winning homecoming my sophomore year and coming back from a 16-point deficit against Mankato East in football. Also, competing against many great athletes in track and field.

Q: What have you learned from sports?

A: The biggest thing that I have been taught by sports is the benefits of hard work. If you can put in effort in the offseason and during the season you will see improvement and you will elevate your skill level.

Q: What is the hardest part about sports?

A: The hardest part about sports for me is the preparation. You have to be willing to put in everything you can at all times to improve because if you don’t somebody else will. You may be competing at the same level you were but those around you have become better and will beat you.

Q: How do you keep your focus when competing?

A: I keep my focus by relaxing. If I am tense and thinking about every little aspect of my throw I will usually end up throwing poorly. However, when I am relaxed and focus on one aspect of my throw I tend to throw better than usual.

Q: Who is your biggest sports role model and why?

A: My biggest sports role model is Tom Brady because he showed that no matter what body type or what others say about you doesn’t matter. What matters is that you have desire to be better and the work ethic to make it happen.

Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?

A: “Last Chance U”

Q: What is your favorite subject in school?

A: My favorite subject in school is anatomy because I get to learn about the body itself and how it functions.

Q: What is your dream job?

A: Sports medicine physician

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Any meat that has been properly cured or cooked.

Q: What are your plans after high school?

A: Next year I will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to study pre-med and I will also be playing football for the football team.

Q: What’s a fun fact about you or hobby you enjoy most people don’t know about?

A: My favorite band is Pink Floyd

Q: If you could have one super power, what would it be?

A: Flying because I would never have to pay for a plane ticket in my life.
