Beverly Petersen, 66, of Nisswa, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019, at St. Cloud Hospital.

Bev was born on Aug. 3, 1952, in Austin, Minnesota, to Richard and Violet Beckel. Bev was an early childhood special education teacher in the Brainerd Lakes area for over 30 years. She was a very passionate teacher and loved her occupation, especially the children she helped. Bev also enjoyed volunteering her time with Birthright, Inc. of Brainerd for several years.

Bev loved her Catholic faith. She saw every day as an opportunity to serve and sacrifice her suffering for her family. She was loved very much by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Bev will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years, Ron Petersen of Nisswa; children, Ryan (Heather) Petersen of Spokane, Washington, Daniel (Amanda) Petersen of Duluth, Minnesota, Stephanie (Drew) Boland of Brainerd, Minnesota, Andrew (Bailey) Petersen of Two Harbors, Minnesota, and Mary Petersen of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Madison, Kaden, Clara, Hudson and Easton; and siblings, Barb Chall, Carol Schrader, Mary Lee, Judy Emiliusen, Rick Beckel, and their families.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at St. Christopher’s Church with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Nisswa. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at St Christopher’s Church and will continue for one hour before the service on Thursday at the church.
