Alumni Update: Austin grads keep going strong in track and field

TRACK AND FIELD

Austin grads Madison Overby, Carolyn Hackel and Pat Hagan all competed in the University of South Dakota Invite Saturday.

Hagan, who throws for the University of Sioux Falls, took 12th in the hammer throw wth a personal record distance of 50.76 meters. The sophomore now has the fourth longest throw all-time in the weight throw at USF and the eighth longest throw all-time at USF in the javelin.

Overby, a junior at the University of North Dakota, took second in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:34.

Hackel, a sophomore at Minnesota State University, took eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.50 seconds and she finished eighth in the long jump with a distance of 5.34 meters.


BASEBALL

Lyle grad Jordan Hart had two homers, including one grand slam, a triple and seven RBIs for Minnesota State University in a 14-1 win over Northern State in the second game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Hart went one-for-four with an RBI in the first game.

Hart is now hitting .370 with seven homers and 31 RBIs for the Mavericks (24-8 overall).

Pacelli grad Daniel Bollinberg went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run for the University of Saint Thomas at the Tommies (12-7 overall) beat Saint Mary’s 5-4 Tuesday.


SOFTBALL

Austin grad Sydney Murphy went 1-for-4 for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (12-7 overall) in a 7-3 loss to the University of Saint Thomas on Tuesday.
