Kenneth John Heimer, 89, of Austin, Minnesota, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Home.

Kenneth was born Jan. 9, 1930, in Johnsburg, Minnesota, to Joseph and Julia (Krebsbach) Heimer. On Feb. 4,1959, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Berg at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Johnsburg. The couple resided in Austin, where Kenneth was employed by the Milwaukee/SOO Line Railroad. He retired from the railroad in May of 1992.  Kenneth was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. He enjoyed gardening, old-time music, spending time with family, holding detailed conversations, and a good cold beer (not necessarily in that order).

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Heimer, Austin; sister, RoseMary (Ernie) King, Austin; daughter, Cheryl (Tim) Schneider, Austin; son, Steve (Faith) Heimer, Eden Prairie, Minnesota; son, Alan (Jean) Heimer, Rochester, Minnesota; daughter, Judy (Todd) Mullenbach, Austin; daughter, Susan (Rodney) Ryks, Austin; 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Natalie, Josiah, Adam, Isaac, Philip, Jerrad, Nicholas, Alyssa, Kathryn, Damian, Madelyn and Hannah; two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Lucas; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Julia Heimer; two sisters, Priscilla May and Marjorie Heimer; and seven brothers, Sylvester “Sally,” Nicholas, Cletus, Jerome, Herbert “Herbie,” Marvin, and Eugene “Shorty.”

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Raul Silva officiating.  Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m., with a 4 p.m. rosary service, on Friday, March 29, 2019, at Mayer Funeral Home and will continue for one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.
