Alumni Update: Hart is hitting strong

Lyle grad Jordan Hart continues to swing a hot bat for the Minnesota State University Mankato baseball team.

After setting the MSU school record by hitting his 30th career homer recently, Hart added his sixth homer of the year when he went deep in a 10-5 win over St. Cloud State for the Mavericks Monday.

Hart, a senior, now has 31 career homers at MSU.He is hitting .433 with 6 homers, 6 doubles and 20 RBIs in 14 games for the Mavericks (9-5 overall).

Pacelli grad Dan Bollingberg has reached base eight times in four games at the University of St. Thomas (3-1 overall) early this season.

Bollingberg, a junior, is hitting .333 with two doubles, a triple and one RBI.

Hayfield grad Adam Fjrestad has pitched in two games for Bethany Lutheran (2-7 overall) and has allowed 16 earned runs in eight innings for an ERA of 18.00.


SOFTBALL

Austin grad Sydney Murphy went 2-for-4 for UW-La Crosse in a 6-3 win over Loras, Iowa recently.

Murphy is hitting .327 with two doubles and three RBIs for the Eagles (9-7 overall).


TRACK AND FIELD

Austin grad Carolyn Hackel took fifth in the 60-high hurdles and 11th in the long jump at the Northern Sun Conference Indoor Championship in Mankato on Feb. 22-23.

Austin grad Pat Hagan took sixth place in the weight throw at the Northern Sun Indoor Championship.


BASKETBALL

Austin grad Gach Gach helped West Texas A & M win its second straight regional title when the Buffs  beat St. Edwards 89-70 on Tuesday.

Gach finished with 14 points on five-of-eight shooting, while grabbing three rebounds in the win for the Burss (33-3 overall), who will now compete in the NCAA Division II Tournament

Gach had eight points and six rebounds as West Texas A & M beat Texas A & M Commerce in the Regional semifinals 77-61 March 16.
