A snow emergency parking ordinance has been declared for 72 hours by the city of Austin.

Starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, parking in the business areas of the city will be prohibited between 1 and 8 a.m. during the 72-hour period. Business areas include midtown Austin, Sterling Shopping Center, Hormel Plant area and East Side business area.

Here is how parking will work in Austin during this timeframe:

Residential Parking

All vehicles on streets, avenues, places and drives in Austin between 8 a.m. on Wednesday and 8 a.m. on Thursday will be parked only on the side of the streets, avenues, places and drives bearing even-numbered United States post office address on even-numbered days of the month.

Other vehicles on streets, avenues, places and drives of Austin between 8 a.m. on Thursday and 8 a.m. on Friday will only be parked on the side of the streets, avenues, places and drives bearing odd-numbered United States post office address on odd-numbered days of the month.
