Signing day: GM’s Glynn and Cotten make college commitments

GRAND MEADOW — A pair of Grand Meadow senior girls basketball players took a break from their undefeated season to lock up their college futures in Grand Meadow Wednesday.

Jordyn Glynn committed to play college basketball at Division III University of Saint Thomas, which is 20-1 overall this season, and Skylar Cotten committed to play at Division III Bethany Lutheran. which is 18-4 overall this season.

Glynn had considered playing volleyball in college, but her mind was changed when she met UST head coach Ruth Sinn, who has a career record 299-79 with the Tommies, including a 194-22 record in the last seven seasons.

“She’s a coach I want to play for,” Glynn said. “She’s super nice, kind and caring for her players. I’m excited to go there.”

Glynn is likely to make the adjustment from playing in the post with GM to playing at point guard or wing with the Tommies.

Cotten made up her mind she wanted to pursue playing college basketball two years ago when she competed in a top-100 tournament. She’s hoping to have a chance to start at point guard or shooting guard next year at Bethany Lutheran.

“I’m super excited. It’s a new beginning to my life and my basketball career,” Cotten said. “I’m excited to start it.”

Glynn was happy to be sitting next to Cotten as the two cemented their basketball and education futures together.

“It’s so fun to share experiences with your classmates,” Glynn said. “I’m so happy that she’s headed to Bethany and I think she’s going to do great things out there.”

The No. 3 ranked Superlarks (22-0 overall) will host Goodhue at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Bethany Lutheran is located in Mankato and Saint Thomas is located in Saint Paul.
