Michael Barren Sr., 67, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. Michael was born on March 28, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Samuel and Margret (Patterson) Barren. He grew up and attended school in Philadelphia. On Dec. 5, 1993, Michael married Gertrude “Trudy” Allen in Austin. The couple later divorced. Michael worked as a laborer at Farmstead for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and hanging with friends. Michael will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his son, Michael Barren Jr. of Austin; stepsons, Thomas Allen of Denver, Colorado and Maurice Allen of Owatonna, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Michael, Mercedes, Mia, and Mckenna, all of Austin; 12 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald Barren, Keith Barren, Barlow Barren, and Milton Barren, all of Philadelphia; and a sister, Belinda Barren of Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Margret Barren; three brothers, Samuel Ron Barren Jr., Jon Barren, Billy Patterson; and one sister, Jennifer Barren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
