Nick Adam Rice, 38, of Shakopee, Minnesota, entered eternal life on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018.
Nick was born on April 1, 1980, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Glen Eli “Sonny” Rice Jr. and Barbara Rose (Garrett) Rice. He married Karla Vollmer (Klassen) on April 19, 2015, in San Pedro, Belize.
Nick loved his job doing landscaping for Mankato Landshapes and later on at CGT in Lakeville, Minnesota. He was proud of the work he did and was always ready for a project. He could fix anything by taking it apart and rebuilding it. Nick loved to play games, especially Scrabble. He also enjoyed movies and worked part time at Marcus Theatres. Nick was an avid sports fan, enjoyed watching football, especially Notre Dame and the Minnesota Vikings, and could recite any sports statistic. He had a competitive nature and loved to play basketball. Nick had a passion for helping others and cherished the time spent with his girls. Karla was Nick’s “Princess.” Running errands, doing laundry or picking up coffee for her (which he always had labeled princess) were some of the few things he did daily to show how much he loved her.
He is survived by his wife, Karla; daughters, Madison, Alyssa and Taylor Rice; step-daughters, Matilyn, Maggie and Emma Vollmer; siblings, Dan, Crystal (Justin) Trawny, Rachel (Seth) Beyer and Matt (Kari); many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sonny and Barbara.
Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation.
