Ryan Anthony Lamaack, 19, of Austin pleaded guilty to felony aiding an offender as part of a plea agreement on Friday in Mower County District Court. He initially pleaded not guilty on July 12, 2018.

Court documents state that police were looking for Matthew Jack Clennon of Austin in June on charges of felony aggravated robbery-bodily harm, felony terroristic threats, felony false imprisonment-intentional restraint and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault. The charges stemmed from an incident on June 24, 2018, in which Clennon allegedly robbed and threatened to kill a man.

During the investigation, a detective learned that Lamaack might be hiding Clennon.

The detective left Lamaack a message on June 26 and later received information that Clennon was hiding at an apartment in the 900 block of First Drive Northwest where Lamaack had been staying. He made contact with Lamaack outside the residence and Lamaack initially denied Clennon was inside, saying he had last seen Clennon “a week ago.”

While they were speaking, the landlord arrived and was advised that police believed Clennon was hiding in the apartment. The landlord said he would check and Lamaack gave him keys purportedly for the door, but when they didn’t work, the landlord got his own set of keys. Lamaack then admitted Clennon was inside and the officers entered the apartment and arrested him.

Lamaack will be sentenced on May 23.
