Lois Mae Johnson, 91, of Austin, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.

Lois was born on April 4, 1927, to Vaughn and Dora (Schwoch) Abbott in Rochester, Minnesota. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Austin. She attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Austin High School in 1945. On June 22, 1947, Lois was united in marriage to Neil Johnson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple was married 42 years until Neil’s death in 1990. Together they raised four children, Quin, Allan, Sally and Bryan. Lois made her living as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was a longtime member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Society and other committees. Lois also belonged to the Mower County Senior Center. Her hobbies included golfing, camping, fishing, cross country skiing, gardening and card clubs. She also loved spending time with her family. Lois will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lois is survived by her children, Quin (Jane) Johnson of Austin,, Allan (Peggy) Johnson of Loudon, Tennessee, Sally Fogel of Sun City, Arizona, and Bryan (Shelly) Johnson of Tomball, Texas; seven grandchildren, Debra (Scott) Lewis, Derek (Karen) Johnson, Megan (Ben) Larson, Bryce Fogel, Alyssa Johnson, Ashley Johnson and Christian Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Payton Lewis, Abigail Lewis, Sydney Lewis, Quinn Johnson and Reagan Johnson; special nieces, Carol Nobbs and Petra Ihrke; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Johnson; parents, Vaughn and Dora Abbott; sister, Gladys, who raised her from age 6; and Gladys’ children, Phyllis Oldenburg, Dale Ihrke and Keith Ihrke.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. Paul Welke officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Memorials can be directed to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church or recipient of donor’s choice. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
