Mower County Attorney Kristen Nelsen will lead the Minnesota County Attorneys Association (MCAA) over the next 12 months.
Nelsen was elected president during the Association’s meeting in Bloomington on Dec. 6. Chief Deputy Hennepin County Attorney David Brown was elected president-elect of the association.
“It is an honor and a privilege to serve as MCAA president,” Nelsen said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues and peers on issues important to the people we serve.”
Stevens County Attorney Aaron Jordan was elected secretary and Chisago County Attorney Janet Reiter was elected treasurer.
Nelsen was first elected Mower County Attorney in 2006 and re-elected in 2010, 2014 and 2018. She joined the MCAA Board of Directors in 2011.
“I am looking forward to working with Kristen on issues important to County Attorneys at the Capitol,” said MCAA executive director Robert Small. “She has such a kind and thoughtful demeanor when working with stakeholders which will be a tremendous asset as we work on challenging and complex issues this coming year.”
The Minnesota County Attorneys Association is the statewide professional organization for all elected 87 County Attorneys and their assistants (over 800 attorneys).
The Association provides leadership on legal and public policy issues, fosters communication and cooperation among its members, and offers legal training to enhance professionalism among County Attorney Offices. The following page lists the officers and directors of the Association for 2019.
