AJ Mueller is a senior hockey player for Austin.
Q: What sports do you compete in?
A: Hockey and baseball.
Q: How did you originally get into hockey?
A: My grandpa took me ice skating when I was about three years old. I had cousins back in Austin who played so it all went from there.
Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?
A: Getting my first point on my first varsity shift freshman year in hockey or going three-for-three (at the plate) in my first varsity baseball game.

Q: What have you learned from sports?
A: Never give up, no matter how hard it gets.
Q: What is the hardest part about sports?
A: The mental game, your performance correlates directly with your confidence level.
Q: How do you keep your focus when competing?
A: Keeping my eyes on the prize, reminding myself what I’m playing for.
Q: Who is your biggest sports role model and why?
A: My former teammate Isaac Arnold. He always gave 100 percent and pushed me to get better every day.
Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: “Miracle.”
Q: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: Human science classes (biology, anatomy).
Q: What is your dream job?
A: A dentist.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Eggs.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: To attend a four-year university or play junior hockey in the area.
Q: What’s a fun fact about you or hobby you enjoy most people don’t know about?
A: I hold the record for hardest slapshot taken by a Bantam player at Heartland Hockey Camp in Deerwood, Minnesota (81 miles per hour).
Q: If you could have one super power, what would it be?
A: To read minds.
