Farmers can get help with mental wellbeing through workshop

Uncertain times in the agricultural community can cause immense stress. Professionals are reaching out to farmers and families about getting support.

On Monday, Dec. 3, and Tuesday, Dec. 4, professionals will be visiting Riverland Community College and the Rochester Community Technical College (RCTC)  for a series of workshops and presentations titled “Resilience in the Face of Change,” presented by Dennis Hoiberg. Monday’s presentations take place at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. inside Riverland’s West Building on the Austin campus in Room A237/240 at 1900 8th Ave. NW.

Tuesday’s workshop takes place at RCTC’s Heintz Center in Room HB 117 at 1926 College View Road E in Rochester at 7 p.m.

Hoiberg is an organizational consultant from Australia with more than 35 years of experience in regional and rural communities helping them cope with change at the personal, family, farm, business and community level. The workshops will help farmers or those in the agribusiness community who struggle in the Midwest with coping skills.

Hoiberg works with the grains industry in Australia, and agribusiness and banking companies serving remote, regional and rural communities throughout Australia and New Zealand.
