Edith Hull, 83, of Austin, Minnesota, formerly of Moravia, Iowa, and Centerville, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.

Edith was born on Nov. 25, 1935, in Appanoose County, Iowa, to Walter and Wilma (Fry) Daniels. She received her education from Centerville High School, graduating in 1954. She attended flight stewardess training in Kansas City, Missouri, and worked at Bankers Life Company in Des Moines, Iowa.

On Sept. 29, 1957, Edith was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Hull. They settled on acreage between Moravia and Unionville, Iowa, and started their family. Every year they had a huge garden and she did lots of canning and freezing of vegetables. She enjoyed activities with her family, including fishing, wiener roasts, attending local festivals and an annual trip to the Iowa State Fair. Edith was an accomplished seamstress, including hand quilting and the completion of multiple comforters made for family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, daily walks and spending time with her grandchildren.

Edith was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she was the treasurer for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Utopian Club for over 40 years. Edith was a 4-H member as a teenager and later became a 4-H leader of the Unionville Farmerettes for 10 years. She was an active member of the Unionville Baptist Church, where she served on multiple committees, including the women’s group. They worked on projects including sewing comforters, making pill pockets, rolling bandages and collecting food labels for missionaries. One of her proudest accomplishments was completing over 300 baby comforters that were sent to missionaries supported by the church.

Survivors include her children, Jeffrey Hull, Mark Hull, Melinda Hull, Neal Hull (Sara), Mike Hull (Kathy) and Pam Huff (Dean); grandchildren, Taylor Hull, Kendall Hull, Berghyn Hull, Jarrett Hull, Chad Huff, Jennifer Gillen and Sloane Huff; four great-grandchildren; sister, Ellen Daniels; brother, Walter “Roscoe” Daniels (Helen Marie); and numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Hull, on Oct. 17, 2004; brother, Ernest Daniels; and a sister, Helen Walden.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the Rev. Josh Davenport officiating. Internment will immediately follow at Taylor Cemetery near Unionville. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at Thomas Funeral Home.
