The Austin City Council will vote on awarding a demolition contract for a low rate filter building at the Waste Water Treatment Plant during its next regular meeting on Monday.
Public Works Director Steven Lang received bids from nine contractors, with Koch, Inc. being the lowest bidder at $186,500. The work will consist of demolishing a 177’ x 229’ building consisting of lumber framework, pipework, concrete piers, 3” clean filter rock, concrete floors, precast concrete wall panels and concrete vent/access tunnel.
The council will also vote on whether or not to approve the donation of surplus materials to the Mower County Historical Society.
Councilwoman Laura Helle will provide the council with an update on the Austin Area Commission for the Arts during the work session on Monday. Helle was originally scheduled to present during the Oct. 15 meeting, but was unable to attend.
The council’s next regular meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, in the City Council Chambers located in the basement of City Hall. The work session will take place in the conference room across the hall immediately following the regular meeting.
