Steel skate past Bruins

The Austin Bruins lost to the Chippewa Steel 3-1 in Riverside Arena Friday.

Garett Dahm scored to pull the Bruins (12-6-0-3 overall) within 2-1 with 11:17 left in the third, but that was the only offense Austin could muster.

The Steel led 2-0 after two periods when Jacob Dirks scored near the end of the second period.

Kyle McClellan stopped 19 of the 22 shots he saw in net for Austin.

The Steel (6-16-1-1 overall) had recently parted ways with head coach Al Rooney, who was an assistant coach for the Bruins last season. Carter Foguth is the Steel’s interim head coach.
