Nyles Olav Pederson, 79, of Lyle, Minnesota, passed away at his home on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018.

Nyles was born July 19, 1939, in Armstrong, Iowa, to Carl and Louise (Stumo) Pederson. He graduated from Lyle High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961. During that time, he was stationed in England for three years. He married Joyce Miller on June 6, 1964, in Austin, Minnesota. They raised their three sons in rural Lyle, where they farmed.

Nyles was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was a member of the Mower County Cattlemen’s Association and served on the Lyle School Board. For many years, he drove the Mower County Veteran’s Van to and from Minneapolis and St. Cloud, transporting veterans to their appointments at the Medical Center. He enjoyed flying and had taken lessons. He also enjoyed his daily coffee groups at McDonalds, the Truck Stop and Lyle Cenex. He collected John Deere miniature tractors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Louise Pederson; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Leilah Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Stan Thurlow; and niece, Debbie Thurlow.

Nyles is survived by his wife, Joyce Pederson, Lyle; sons and daughters-in-law, Neal (Shelley) Pederson, Geneva, Minnesota, Jeffery (Dea) Pederson, Lyle, and Bryan (Kim) Pederson, Wyoming, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Marshall and Carma Pederson, Alisson, Blake, Wyatt and Wayde Pederson, Brett, Dylan and Brynn Pederson; half brother, Joe Lubenow, Washington; brother-in-law, Russell (Jo) Miller; sisters-in-law, Charlene (Bob) Abraham and Ria Miller; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul Welke officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and for one hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Woodbury Cemetery with military rites by Lyle American Legion Post 105.
