Kathy A. Gaster, 67, of Dexter, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at her home.
Kathleen Ann O’Brien was born April 3, 1951, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Emogene (Zielie) O’Brien. Kathy was raised and attended school in Eau Claire and graduated from Regis High School. She then attended the Mayo Clinic LPN Program. On March 6, 1971, she was united in marriage to Bobbie E. Gaster in Austin, Minnesota. The couple raised two children. Her jobs over the years included her work at the Windmill Restaurant in Dexter and in the records department at Mayo Clinic. Kathy enjoyed her role as wife, mother, and helper to her husband on the farm. She belonged to United Methodist Church in Brownsdale, Minnesota, where she was involved in many activities. Kathy enjoyed going to rummage sales and she treasured the time she could spend with her friends and family. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Paul Gaster of Palatine, Illinois, and Christie (Jim) Vereide of Maplewood, Minnesota; her siblings, Michael (Paula) O’Brien of Prescott, Arizona, John Q. O’Brien of Bradenton, Florida, Sue (Spencer) Grover of Bloomer, Wisconsin, and Mari Cook of Menomonie, Wisconsin; stepbrothers, Jim (Julia) Woodford of Menomonie and Joe Woodford of Apple Valley, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, others relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobbie, in 2005; and sisters, Maureen ‘Renie’ Giacona, Colleen Tafel, Michele ‘Shelly’ McCarthy and Annette O’Brien.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at United Methodist Church of Brownsdale with Pastor Lisa Vick officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to United Methodist Church of Brownsdale or recipient of donor’s choice. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
