Illinois man stabbed in Austin robbery; $60-$80 stolen during attack

Police are looking for information after a man was stabbed during a robbery early Wednesday morning in Austin.

According to Austin Police Capt. David McKichan, police took a report from the victim, a 25-year-old male from Illinois, at 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin. The victim said he was walking in Austin after visiting a bar when he was tapped on the shoulder and stabbed in the abdomen. The victim said his attacker stole $60-$80 from him. He was then brought to the hospital by acquaintances.

The police report indicated the attack occurred at approximately 4:30-4:40 a.m.

The victim did not know the location of the stabbing and could not provide a description of his attacker or the weapon, McKichan said. The victim’s wounds do not appear to be life threatening.
