The 10th annual Give to the Max Day raised a record $21.1 million Thursday. It was the third year in the row of record-setting totals for the event, which gives charitable donors a centralized online venue at which to support Minnesota nonprofits.

Nearly 5,500 Minnesota causes are listed on the GiveMN.org website.

Analysts were watching to see whether recent changes in federal tax law might depress donations, but GiveMN’s Executive Director Jake Blumberg said tax breaks are not even on the top 10 list of reasons that motivate donors.
