The Austin girls hockey team lost its season opener to Rochester John Marshall by a score of 6-2 in Rochester Monday.

Erin Bickler scored in the first period to put Austin up 1-0, but the Rockets scored the next six goals. Mikiah Rumsey scored on an assist from Kylee Hanlon in the third period for Austin (0-1 overall, 0-1 Big Nine).

Austin had 33 shots and Shelby Davidson-Newkirk stopped 26 shots.
