Jessica Desiree Post, 20, of Austin pleaded guilty to felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon as part of a plea agreement on Thursday in Mower County District Court. She initially pleaded not guilty to the charge on June 14.
A charge of misdemeanor driving after revocation of her license will be dismissed at the sentencing.
According to court documents, Post called police at 8:27 a.m. on May 30 to report that a man had stolen prescription narcotics from a relative and that she had tried to run him over with a car. She told police he had stolen three morphine pills.
Police located the man on First Avenue Southwest and were told that Post tried to run him over with a car, making him jump from his bicycle, according to the court documents. The man’s bike was found in the 400 block of 11th Street Northwest. Post said she had seen him on 11th Street Northwest while she was driving.
The court documents state that a passenger who was with Post at the time told police that Post confronted the man about the stolen pills while she was in the car and that he jumped off the bicycle and started walking. She said she did not believe Post was trying to hit him with the car.
Post will be sentenced on Jan. 24.
