The Steve Rummler Hope Network will offer two Naloxone training classes, 2-3:30 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 18, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin.
Naloxone (Narcan) is a medication used to block the effects of opioids and is used to reverse an opioid overdose.
During the training, attendees will learn:
• How Naloxone works when administered to a person who has overdosed;
• How to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose; and
• When to give Naloxone to a person who has overdosed
Upon completion of the course, attendees will have the opportunity to receive an overdose prevention kit.
The course is not a CPR class.
A $50 donation per person is requested, but no one will be turned away due to an inability to pay.
