MPR to host debates for various Minn. offices; Senate, gubernatorial debates open to the public

ST. PAUL -— The Republican and Democratic candidates for several Minnesota congressional seats will partake in a series of debates in October hosted by MPR News and moderated by political editor Mike Mulcahy. MPR News will also hold back-to-back debates at the Fitzgerald Theater in November featuring candidates for the U.S. Senate and Minnesota gubernatorial races, moderated by morning MPR News hosts Cathy Wurzer and Kerri Miller, respectively.

Minnesota Congressional District 1 candidates Dan Feehan (DFL) and Jim Hagedorn (R) will debate at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, at MPR’s UBS Forum.

U.S. Senate candidates Senator Tina Smith (DFL) and State Senator Karin Housley (R) will debate at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul.

Gubernatorial candidates Congressman Tim Walz (DFL) and Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson (R) will debate at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Fitzgerald Theater.

All debates will be streamed at mprnews.org and aired live on MPR News. Only the U.S. Senate and Minnesota gubernatorial debates are open to the public. Admission is free for both debates.
