Man allegedly sold over 55 grams of meth to informant

Cully Thomas Shierts, 21, of Clarks Grove was charged on Thursday in Mower County District Court with felony first-degree drugs-sale of 17 grams or more of methamphetamine.

According to the court complaint, a confidential reliable informant (CRI) met with narcotics detectives on Dec. 14, 2017, about purchasing methamphetamine from Shierts. The CRI and his vehicle were searched and police gave him buy money and an audio transmitter. The CRI was then monitored as he went to meet Shierts in Austin.

The complaint states that Shierts arrived in a 2003 Cadillac. The CRI got into the car and purchased the drugs from Shierts. The CRI then met with police and surrendered two bags of methamphetamine, a total of 55.728 grams.

A review of Shierts’ criminal record shows juvenile adjudications for burglary and convictions for theft, domestic assault and drug possession. He is currently awaiting disposition on charges in Freeborn County of receiving stolen property, fifth-degree drug possession, possession of metal knuckles and driving after revocation of his license.

Shierts will appear in Mower County court again on Nov. 8.
