Escape to the movies at the Paramount this November with eight great flicks.

The month kicks off with a sci-fi classic, “Blade Runner” (1982) on Wednesday on Nov. 7.  Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford, the film is set in a dystopian future in which synthetic human “replicants” are bio-engineered to work on off-world colonies. A fugitive group of replicants escapes back to Earth where burnt-out cop Rick Deckard (Ford) hunts them down.

World War I Armistice Centennial (1918-2018) Film Fest features four full-length films for a free will offering on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Paramount Theatre. The festival starts with family-friendly “Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero” at 11 a.m. At 12:45 a.m., documentary “Pershing’s Path to Glory” traces the story of a leading WWI American general.

View the documentary about the first women to serve in the US Army at 3 p.m. with “The Hello Girls.” Finally, the documentary “The Millionaires’ Unit,” about privileged Yale students who formed a private air militia, will play at 4:30 p.m. American Legion Spam Post 570 and Post 91, VFW Post 1216, Austin’s DAV and Beyond the Yellow Ribbon chapters, with support from The US World War One Centennial Commission, present this event.

Cheerful whistling will fill the Paramount during “The Bridge on the River Kwai” (1957) on Wednesday, Nov. 14.  The war film is based on the novel “Le Pont de la Rivière Kwaï” by Pierre Boulle and tells the story of the construction of the Burma Railway by prisoners of war in 1942–1943.

Bring the family to enjoy “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” the 1971 musical fantasy starring Gene Wilder on Wednesday, Nov. 21. The film tells the story of Charlie Bucket as he receives a Golden Ticket and visits Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory with four other children.

Finally, on Wednesday, Nov. 28, “Rebel Without a Cause” (1955) takes the screen. This drama about suburban, middle-class teenagers stars James Dean, Sal Mineo, and Natalie Wood. The film has achieved landmark status for the acting of Dean, who died before the film’s release.

For $5 Wednesday movies, purchase tickets at concession stand. No advance ticket sales. Shows start at 3 and 7:30 p.m.
