After enduring a rough stretch of back-to-back losses last week, the Austin boys soccer team is back on track after it won its fourth straight game by topping Faribault 7-0 in Art Hass Stadium Thursday.
The Packers (7-2 overall, 6-1 Big Nine) came out with a relentless fury as senior Lee Reh scored three goals in a span of 16 minutes to put the Packers up 3-0 with 7:53 left in the first half.
“I was able to get space and I knew I would be able to shoot if I had the opportunity. We have great passing and communication and that helps,” Reh said.
Austin didn’t let up after its fast start as Henry Tolbert connected on a penalty kick for his first of two goals and Mooday Wah and Kevin Ortiz each added a goal in the second half. Tolbert, Was, Ortiz, Reh, Wah and Julio Hernandez all had one assist as well.

Wah said the Packers have learned to stay locked in after falling to Rochester Lourdes and Rochester Mayo a week ago. Faribault (7-4 overall, 5-2 Big Nine) had beaten Mayo and Lourdes recently, but Austin brought a newfound intensity to the field on Thursday.
“Communication has been key,” Wah said. “We had a lot of that today and our passes were pretty good. The chemistry is getting better.”
The Packers finished with 20 shots on goal and sophomore Casey Berg stopped nine shots, including a couple of leaping saves, to get the shutout.

Austin head coach Jens Levisen said he thinks his team is trending in the right direction as it prepares to host Worthington (8-0 overall) at 2 p.m. Saturday.
“One of the things we wanted to work on was focus and we want to make sure we’re playing a full 80 minute game. The guys showed up tonight and did well in the first half, but at the same time we had to finish the game and that’s what they did,” Levisen said. “Lee really showed up. He’s been hitting some shots in practice and he hit some good ones today.”
