Angel Manuel Delgado, 32, of Austin was charged on Friday in Mower County District Court with felony violent felon in possession of a firearm, felony second-degree assault, felony terroristic threats, felony fifth-degree drug possession and felony predatory offender fail to register.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, dispatch received a 911 call at about 3:55 a.m. on Friday from a caller who immediately hung up. They received a second call from a female who said, “I’m scared,” and hung up again. Police then responded to a residence in the 1500 block of Fourth Avenue Northwest and met with a 29-year-old woman. She told police she was allowing Delgado to stay at the residence and that he had earlier pointed a rifle at her and threatened to shoot her.
She also said he shot at her with an airsoft pistol while they were outside near the garage. Another man at the residence said he heard Delgado threaten the woman, but did not see him with the rifle.
Police searched Delgado’s bedroom and found a Hi-Point 9mm rifle, as airsoft pistol, clonazepam and a methamphetamine bong, Krueger said.
A review of Delgado’s criminal record shows prior convictions for criminal damage to property, domestic assault, theft, burglary and predatory offender knowingly violating registration requirements.
Delgado will appear in court again on Oct. 12.
