The Hayfield volleyball team lost to Maple River (2-1 overall) by scores of 25-23, 25-10, 25-27, 25-22 in Hayfield Thursday.

Jenna Jacobsen had 15 kills in the loss for the Vikings (0-3 overall, 0-1 Gopher). It was the first match in the Gopher Conference for the Vikings, who moved over from the HVL this season.

“It was great atmosphere for volleyball tonight for the first game in the new conference,” Hayfield head coach Jeremy Struck said. “There were a lot of momentum swings and high emotions. We came up a little short tonight, but we are on the cusp of breaking through to the win column.”
