Frederick R. Kramer, 87, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

Frederick R. Kramer was born on Dec. 25, 1930, on a farm in rural Meyer, Iowa, to Lorenz and Frances Kramer, the seventh of 11 children. He was educated in Meyer and Stacyville, Iowa, a graduate of Visitation High School in 1948.

Fritz married Verena Elizabeth Halfman on April 4, 1959, in Stacyville. To this union, six children were born. They worked and raised their family in Stacyville. Fritz was a mechanic for many years at Adams Motor Company. In later years he worked at Benttine Repair in Osage, Iowa. He was a 65-year member of the American Legion, Hale Penney Fuller Post 569 in Stacyville.

Fritz was well known for his quick wit, his love of cars, and playing cards, especially 500. He also loved baseball and, after retirement, became an avid golfer.

Fritz was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Barbara Ann Kramer in 1986; and brothers, sisters and brothers and sisters-in-law, Lucy Kramer, Elmo (Eleanor) Kramer, Betty Norgaard, Richard (Lola) Kramer, Germaine Collette, Dennis (Marilyn) Kramer, Leonard (Pat) Kramer, Lorraine Kramer and Quentin Kramer.

He is survived by his wife, Verena of Stacyville; children, Janet (Steve) Kleckner of Zimmerman, Minnesota, Mark (Lori) Kramer of McIntire, Iowa, Dan (Barb) Kramer of Stacyville, Diane (Dean) Mayer of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and Jim (Deb) Kramer of St. Ansgar; grandchildren, Ryan (fiancé Lindsey) Kramer, Mitchell (Ashley) Kramer, Cody and Gabriel Kramer, Elizabeth Mayer, Evan (Kelly) Mayer, Ethan Mayer, Jared, Tara and Collin Kramer; great-granddaughters, Macy and Avae Kramer; brother, Kenneth Kramer of Adams, Minnesota; sister, Loreen (Dick) King of Rose Creeek, Minnesota; brothers-in-law, Norm Norgaard of Neevus, Minnesota, and Fred Halfman of Stacyville; sister-in-law, Sylvia Brown of Riverside, California; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at Visitation Catholic Church with Fr. Raymond Burkle and Msgr. John Hemann officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30-7 p.m., with a Rosary at 4:15 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at Visitation Catholic Church. Burial will be at Visitation Cemetery.
