Wanted Oakland man arrested in Austin

Fortino Zarate, 28, of Oakland was arrested Wednesday night in Austin after a sheriff’s deputy spotted him at the Shell gas station on West Oakland Avenue.
The Minnesota State Patrol put out an alert for Zarate after he was involved in a hit and run accident in Albert Lea, according to Mower County Chief Deputy Mark May. Zarate was also wanted by the Albert Lea police.
Zarate was arrested at 10:30 p.m. at the Shell gas station on West Oakland Avenue near the Interstate 90 exit after a deputy saw his Silver Dodge Ram. The deputy and a state patrolman spoke to Zarate, who appeared intoxicated. Austin Police also arrived on the scene.
Zarate was arrested and transported to the Freeborn County Jail by Albert Lea police.
He had his first court appearance on Friday and was charged with gross misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct-nonconsensual sex and felony false imprisonment.
