Robert Allen Goergen, 77, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus-Rochester.

Robert was on Feb. 28, 1941, in Austin to Paul and Josephine (Hukee) Goergen. He attended Pacelli High School, graduating with the Class of 1959. On Sept. 28, 1963, Robert married Judy Matti in Austin. Together, the couple had three children. During his life, Robert worked at Nelsons Piggly Wiggly, American Can, his brother Jim’s business, and then opened Bob’s Gun Shop in 1986. He was a lifelong Austin resident and belonged to the Eagles, NRA, Cedar Valley Conservation Club and an Austin Car Club. Robert loved to go up north fishing, long car rides, and his trips to the casinos. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his children, Janine (Peter) Marks, Oakland, Minnesota, Scott (Kathy) Goergen, Austin, and Tom (Marci) Goergen, Richfield, Minnesota; grandchildren, Pete Marks Jr., Elijah Marks, Ryan Himli, Nick Riste, Dustin Riste, and Alexandra Minor; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim (Debra) Goergen of Austin and Patricia (Robert) Herr of Twin Cities, Minnesota; and many close nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Josephine Goergen; and his wife, Judy Goergen.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Father John Sullivan officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at Worlein Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family or recipient of donor’s choice. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
