An attempted abduction was reported Saturday night at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds.

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies were reportedly conducting a foot patrol of the Midway when they were stopped by a 12-year-old girl at about 9:55 p.m., according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.

The girl reportedly said she was walking on the gravel road through a parking lot near the 4-H building on the south side of the fairgrounds when someone grabbed her waist from behind and told her, “Keep walking and nobody will get hurt,” the release states.

The girl reportedly complied for a few seconds before a female yelled at the man to leave the girl alone, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The suspect then reportedly fled on foot.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was described as wearing dark shoes with white laces and having “an abnormally deep voice.”

The incident reportedly took place 45 minutes to one hour before the girl spoke to deputies.
