A tractor-trailer accident on Monday caused first responders to round up hogs on 218.
According to Mower County Senior Sgt. Investigator Steve Sandvik, a tractor-trailer hauling hogs was northbound on 218 at 8:50 a.m. on Monday when the driver drifted onto the right shoulder, causing it to roll over about one mile south of the Minnesota border.
About 30-40 hogs escaped, Sandvik said. The Lyle Fire Department responded to the scene and misted the hogs to keep them cool as they were loaded into a back-up truck.
The Mower County Sheriff’s Office and Lyle Police Department also responded to the scene and were relieved by the Iowa State Patrol.
Sandvik’s report did not indicate if the driver or any hogs were injured.
