Nicole Latrice Beasley, 33, of Austin was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection to a Tuesday morning burglary.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, a 53-year-old man called police at 10:52 a.m. on Tuesday to report a burglary at his residence in the 400 block of Ninth Street Northeast. He said that he was awoken by a loud bang at his front door. When he went to investigate, he allegedly found Beasley, who he knew, inside the house. She allegedly said she needed money, but he would not give her any. She then allegedly grabbed a pencil bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash from a counter and got into a black vehicle driven by a male.

A neighbor told police she heard noise and saw a black female pounding on the man’s door, Krueger said. The neighbor claimed the woman then started kicking the door in a backwards motion until it sprang open.

Police located the black vehicle at a residence, but learned that Beasley had left in a van, according to Krueger. Police found the van at 3:05 p.m. at a residence in the 1200 block of Fourth Street Northwest. They knocked on an apartment door and a woman answered. As she did, police allegedly saw Beasley leaving the room. Officers gained entry and arrested her. The moneybag was not found at the residence.

Beasley is currently at the Mower County Jail awaiting possible charges of burglary and damage to property.

The case has been forwarded to the city and county attorneys’ offices for further review.
