State tax returns and payments extended for emergency areas

ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Department of Revenue announced Tuesday that taxpayers who were affected by the recent severe weather and flooding will get extra time to file Minnesota returns and pay Minnesota taxes.

This applies to individuals and businesses in the counties and Tribal Nation that have Minnesota tax returns or payments due from June 9, 2018 to July 31, 2018.

Gov. Mark Dayton recently declared a peacetime state of emergency for counties and Tribal Nations that suffered flooding and damage during severe storms in June. Affected counties and Tribal Nation include Aitkin, Becker, Beltrami, Blue Earth, Brown, Carlton, Cass, Clearwater, Cottonwood, Faribault, Fillmore, Freeborn, Jackson, Kittson, Lake, Lyon, Mahnomen, Martin, Mille Lacs, Mower, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Pine, Pipestone, Polk, Red Lake, Redwood, Renville, Rock, Sibley, Stearns, Stevens, St. Louis, Waseca, and Watonwan counties, and the Red Lake Nation.
