Chamber Ag Appreciation Summer Cookout planned for Tuesday

The Austin Chamber of Commerce will host its 33rd annual Ag Appreciation Summer Cookout from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Plager Building on the Mower County Fairgrounds.

Organized through the Chamber’s Agribusiness Committee, the event is designed to recognize the contributions of agriculture to our community and show appreciation to valued customers from all walks of life.

Over 1,400 people attended last year.

All attending will be served a Hormel Windsor chop dinner, ice cream and refreshments. Advance tickets are available at the Chamber for $10 and  $12 at the door.

Members of the Mower County Pork Producers, 4-H and FFA assist members of the Chamber’s Agribusiness Committee in preparing and serving the dinner.

Proceeds from the cookout help support a variety of committee activities, including sponsorship of the 4-H Ribbon Auction, Mower County Dairy Corn and Soybean associations and Mower County Pork Producers.

The committee also hosts a “Day on the Farm” tour for third grade students, Sept. 18.
