According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, police took a report at 10:50 p.m. on Saturday at the Mower County Law Enforcement Center regarding a stolen gold 2003 KIA Sorento with license plate 434JAD. The owner said he lent the car to Motieri on May 26 so she could go to the store to buy cigarettes, but told her to bring it back.

On May 28, the owner was contacted by a Kwik Trip employee  in Albert Lea and was informed that he needed to pay for $38.05 worth of fuel that was put into his vehicle, according to Krueger.

Officers spotted the vehicle early Monday morning and made a felony stop at 14th Street and Second Avenue Southwest. Motieri was driving and allegedly told police the owner gave her the keys to the vehicle. When asked about it being lent to her to buy cigarettes, Motieri allegedly said she wanted to borrow it for the weekend.

Motieri was taken to the Mower County Jail and is awaiting a possible charge of felony theft-taking/driving a motor vehicle without owner consent.
